Zionsville Christmas Parade

Our office had a great time in the parade this year. Though the parade route is short there was a great turnout from the community! Kids lined the street with their parents to see the different local companies dressed up in the holiday attire.

Interested in a new home in Zionsville, IN?
The builders in the Anson community are bringing quality construction and energy efficient homes to the Zionsville area. The neighborhood is being designed to be an “Eat, Work, Play” community. Homes in this development are currently being built in the $200,000-$400,000 price range with custom lots available. This is a great opportunity to get into a new home in Zionsville schools before the pricing goes up.

Fabulous Dining in on Main Street, Zionsville…Cobblestone Grill
One of my favorite places to dine (because I LOVE food) in Zionsville is Cobblestone Grill. It’s an upscale, yet casual dining experience located in the heart of the village. They serve lunch, dinner, and Sunday Brunch PLUS have live entertainment on the weekends. Weather permitting, you can eat outside on the New Orleans-like patio!! The Cobblestone Bar is also a great place to catch a game or watch a race. Restaurant/Bar has great daily drink specials and nice wine list. I like to take clients there—to show them the Best of Zionsville. I recommend the Liz’s Signature Salad, crab cakes, and crème brulee. Everything on the Menu is Fabulous!!! For more information or online reservations visit www.cobblestonegrill.com.
As always, for more information on Zionsville Living, please call or email me!

It's that time again…the Zionsville Farmer’s Market is Back..this Saturday!
The 11th annual Zionsville Farmers’ Market returns to the corner of Main and Hawthorne streets Saturday, June 6, with the traditional strawberry shortcake giveaway. I absolutely LOVE the farmer’s market. It is a great place to pick up local produce, vegetables, and other merchandise. It is required that all the vendor merchandise has to be made or grown locally and cannot be from a wholesaler. My absolute favorite thing to buy at the Farmer’s Market is Green Tomatoes to make Fried Green Tomatoes!!! Hopefully it is not too early for green tomatoes!!
I will be there this Saturday!! Hope to see you there.

Market turning around a little???
On Sunday, I held an Open House in one of Zionsville’s popular neighborhoods, Thornhill.
I had 30+ people visit the home between 3-5 p.m. WOW! I have 2 new listings, a handful of buyers that are actively looking for a home, and a ton of prospects. I have certainly observed an increase of activity out there…and now the media is actually reporting some good news. In a recent CNN Money report, pending home sales rose in March for the second consecutive month and are up year over year—nationwide! So if you are on the fence to Buy or Sell a home…why wait? Call me for a Free Comparative Market Analysis for Sellers or a Buyer Needs Analysis. STACY SHOUP, 317-339-6141.

A HOOSIER Has Taken The Crown!
For the first time in the 88 year history of the Miss America Scholarship Pageant, a HOOSIER has taken the crown!
The prestigious title of Miss America 2009 is held by 22 year of Katie Stamm, a native of Seymour, Indiana, and a student at the University of Indianapolis. Stamm was crowned Miss Indiana in the summer of 2008 and went on to represent the State in the national pageant in January. She will be crowned officially in Zionsville in March.
The Town of Zionsville hosts the Miss Indiana pageant annually, and the event brings an air of elegance to our small town in the late spring when dozens of gown-clad collegians descend upon the town for a number of public appearances, including a parade down Main Street, before competing in the State contest.

The Tree Saga Continues…
Who’d have thought a little, ol’ Christmas tree could cause such a fuss in town this year? Somebody moved it and nobody it liked it! And in the days after the very uneventful lighting of the tree Thanksgiving weekend, an unknown number of calls poured into Town Hall, the Merchants Association and the Chamber of Commerce while the paper ran ferocious editorial letters submitted by the locals. We like our traditions! And by the launch of the annual Christmas Parade 7 days later, the tree had been returned to its rightful location in the middle of Main Street, just exactly where it belongs. And now Christmas may begin in Zionsville.

VIP Holiday in the Village
Friday night, December 5th, the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library will become a winter wonderland for special needs individuals and their families. The event, imagined and developed by Leigh Ann Akard (lifetime Zionsville resident and local businesswoman), is a spin off from the first-ever VIP carnival, hosted by Zionsville Lions Club and held during the annual Fall Festival at Lions Park.
VIP guests will enjoy a special, guided tour of the library’s holiday wonderland, story telling, and coloring. The library even committed to sending books home with the VIPs. Zionsville Rail Trail Gardens will host a pine cone and bird seed outdoor ornament project. VIP guests will have the opportunity to tour the Village, as well, on a custom sleigh built specially for the occasion. The sleigh will travel through an elfin wonderland on its tour. There will also be a petting zoo, courtesy of Country Market and photos with Santa. And before the evening is over, the VIPs and their families will walk the village, caroling as they go with stops along the way for hot chocolate and brownies.
The public is invited to participate in the caroling which will depart from the library at 8:00 p.m.

Change is NOT always a Good Thing!
You’ve heard of the book Who Moved my Cheese? Well, this year, when I was at the town’s annual lighting of the Christmas Tree in the Village of Zionsville, all I could utter was “Who Moved my Tree?” Just a few weeks ago I blogged about how much I was looking forward to the annual tradition of the Town’s Christmas tree being lit in the middle of Main Street... well, not anymore. Apparently, somebody deemed its traditional placement UNSAFE and they moved it! To the sidewalk! Boring! Well, it’s still a lovely tree, though now positioned statuesquely next to a new tea shop called Serenity. Okay, I don’t like change…never have, but I did enjoy the lighting ceremony this year with dancers and music and Mrs. Clause. And the free cider and hot cocoa and fresh wassail wasn’t all bad, either.Posted by:

Zionsville Chamber of Commerce Selects new Executive Director
Ray Cortopassi spoke to the Zionsville Lions Club on November 25, 2008, about his vision for his new role as the Executive Director of the Zionsville Chamber of Commerce. It was clear to all in attendance that Cortopassi has a great love for our town and a strong commitment to our local businesses. He seems to have an excellent handle on what our local businesses need, and he seems to have an excellent grasp of the monumental changes about to take place with the recently approved referendum combining three townships into the new (and much larger) Town of Zionsville.
The Zionsville Time Sentinel recently reported Cortopassi’s immediate goals: 1) contacting chamber members to assess their needs and to solicit feedback on what they think the chamber needs to focus on, 2) attract more commercial development, and 3) keeping current merchants.
“As a Zionsville resident, I feel passionate about this tremendous opportunity to make a real contribution to the positive direction of our community,” Cortopassi said in a press release. “Zionsville is a great place to live and do business, which is a message I look forward to sharing throughout Indiana.”
A 15-year veteran of TV broadcast news reporting, Cortopassi was the evening news anchor for WRTV-TV Channel 6 and more recently has been a contributing reporter and anchor at WTHR television station, both in Indianapolis. Ray and his wife, Leslie, have four children, ages 3, 6, 8 and 10. He is a nine-year Zionsville resident, active in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and is co-founder and managing director of the Off Main Street Players community theater.
Cortopassi replaced Debbie Cranfill, who resigned earlier this summer after 17 years with the chamber due to family health reasons.

Light up the Tree, Christmas in the Village is Coming to Zionsville, IN!
Each year for as long as I can remember, the residents of Zionsville have enjoyed a unique, and sometimes perilous, tradition in our giant decorated Christmas tree perched in the middle of Main Street for the holiday season. It is the official start to Christmas in the Village. And every year, wages are placed on how long it will be before that tree is hit by an out-of-towner winding up the brick street not expecting to find a Christmas tree in the middle of Main Street. But it is our tradition and we love it! The tree will be lit with ceremony and Santa Claus on November 29th at 5:30pm. I invite everyone to join in the carols and merriment at that time.Posted by:

Home-a-rama in Zionsville
Tuesday night a friend and I visited the 2008 Home-a-rama in the Willows in Zionsville. Together we marveled at the handiwork of the custom builders and designers.
The homes offered every luxury your heart desires from top to bottom. They featured state of the art kitchens, home theatres, luxury master baths and intricate landscaping. The designers gave new definition to family recreation in the design of the basements. Two homes included a massage table, talk about relaxing after a hard days work!
Each home had unique features but we agreed the 4th home, built by Executive Homes, overall was the best. The open floor plan, the hot tub off the master bath and the circular shower were my favorite features.
Home-a-rama offers some unique floor plans and modern concepts but hurry the show ends October 5th. If you are interested in building a custom home, call me at 681-2327 to help you every step of the way.

Fall Festival in Zionsville
Last weekend was the infamous Fall Festival in Zionsville. Every year Zionsville hosts a big parade which is followed up by a carnival that spans the whole weekend down at Zionsville's Lion's Park.
This year's theme was "It's Magic!" So, we Carpenter Agents rounded up our little ones, put on our top hats, rode our float, and had tons of fun throwing candy out to Zville residents who lined up along Main Street to hoot and holler and catch lots of candy.
If you'd like more info on all the fun Zionsville has to offer, please contact me, Zoe Moore @ 317-432-5285 or zmoore@callcarpenter.com.

Places to Eat in Zionsville, IN
There are a few restaurants in Zionsville located in Boone County that you need to try. The first being Stone Creek located on Michigan Road. Stone Creek has a large menu. I would recommend the calamari as an appetizer. The second would be the Cobblestone Grill located in the heart of downtown Zionsville on Main Street. The hamburgers and clubs are delicious and come with great tasting fries. I hope you enjoy these restaurants as much as I did.

Why I Love My New Home in Zionsville's Huntington Woods
I've joined the ranks of being a seller and buyer! Wow, how much more sympathy I now have for my sellers after having the pleasure of showing and selling my own home! (the good news is it only took 35 days, even though it felt like forever)!
My husband and I have dreamed of being back in Zionsville again after living for the last 4 years in another area. We've been blessed with the perfect home for our family. Living in a small neighborhood, Huntington Woods, is perfect. We back up to a horse farm so the kids and I enjoy walking out there each evening to feed them carrots and apples.
We are also within walking distance to Boone Village where we can grab a quick bite to eat at Amore's (best pizza in Zionsville)!
Although the selling process was stressful, the Joy of our new home was all worth it.
For more info on Huntington Woods, buying or selling in Zionsville, or Amore's Restaurant, give me a call on my cell @ 317-432-5285.

Have a Taste for the Finer Things in Life?
Zionsville, in Boone County Indiana has the only Bentley dealership in Central Indiana. If you like cars this is a place you have to stop by. Throughout most of the summer you can find some of the Bentleys on display in the parking lot. This car dealership is located downtown, blocks from many quaint shops and parks. Just another thing that differentiates Zionsville from the other local communities.

What I love about my Village - Zionsville, IN
I live in "The Village" of Zionsville. An 11-block area of carefully restored historic homes, interspersed with historically-styled new homes, surrounding a small commercial area of unique boutiques, businesses and fantastic restaurants. I now know I can’t live anywhere else and the reasons why are as hard to put to words as it is to describe the earthy, warm smell of a 100-year old attic J But I’ll try... it starts with the sigh of relief my entire body releases when I cross 86th St, heading north from Indianapolis. That seems to be the line that leaves traffic and stress behind me. It is the personal welcome my Village offers as the flowering trees wave me home through the colorful homes they frame. It is the pride of ownership my neighbors take in their homes, the potted plants, the freshly turned mulch, the cute little art pieces stuck in gardens and hanging on front doors. It is the thrill of knowing I LIVE at the destination point for many weekend travelers. Watching the shoppers and tourists who choose to visit my hometown is cool, and I don’t even get angry when they park in my driveway.
I sit on the porch in the evening and listen to the music waft from the restaurants nearby. When a wedding is in progress at the Nancy Noel Sanctuary next door, watching the wedding party come and go and their guests linger on the porch is entertainment enough for me. To walk to everything in town from my front door is the ultimate in convenience. To know that my neighbors will actually track down my wayward old dog when she escapes from my yard is comforting to know that in a real crisis, they’ll be there, too.
When a large tree crushed my fence last summer, my neighbor cut it up, hauled it off and fixed my fence before I even got home from work. I didn’t buy my home for value or lowest price per square foot. I certainly didn’t even buy it for modern conveniences or finished basements or a grand master bath because it is NONE of that. It is nearly 100 years old! I bought it for all the reasons above, knowing that I can finish a basement, I can add a garden tub, and I can change siding or anything else structural that I was unhappy with, but I could never replace that mood or character my Village offers.

Zionsville Community Schools
With the Boone County and Indiana State Fairs quickly approaching, local parents have become a little more anxious.
Within the coming weeks parents will witness a decrease in the grocery and electric bills. They will find the computer is free for their own personal use as opposed to frequent visits to My Space and Facebook. Yes, the school bells will be ringing soon in Zionsville!
With that in mind, now is the time to finalize your plans to relocate to Zionsville. When planning to move most parents take into consideration an area’s schools.
Zionsville Community Schools are considered Four Star Schools, schools ranked in the top 25% of all Indiana Public Schools. Additionally, Zionsville Community High School boasts a 94.9% graduation rate for 2007!
Zionsville Community Schools resume August 18, 2008. Parents, time is of the essence, so call me to today to locate the perfect home in Zionsville. I can be reached at (317) 681-2327.

I now have the answer. It was announced today that Indianapolis based builder Hansen & Horn will be the residential homebuilder at Anson. I visited the Hansen & Horn website and they have ample information about their presence in Anson. WOW! This is so exciting. Zionsville, Indiana is going to have another fabulous neighborhood. I think that Anson is going to be unique to the area, because of its mixed-use plan. For those who think the market is dead... come to Zionsville, Indiana it’s very much alive and thriving!Posted by:

Charity Polo Event in Zionsville, IN
I attended an Charity Polo Event last year and was fascinated. Not only with the actual polo match, but also the organization that the event benefited. This year I have volunteered with Helping Her Heal. The Helping Her Heal Fund was established in 2006. With the support of generous donors and the Helping Her Heal Fund, women can find solace, support and strength of mind throughout their journey of hope and healing. The mission is "a community compassionately providing emotional and financial support to women with female cancers."
This year’s charity Polo Match will be held Saturday August 23, 2008. Gates open at 11am. Match starts at 1:00pm. Cost is $10 a carload. Tailgate boxes are available. For more information or to reserve a tailgate box contact 317-873-0210.

Zionsville, Indiana Living
Nestled to the northwest of Indianapolis, within 20 minutes of downtown, lies Zionsville, Indiana. This quaint town is one of few remaining within the United States that have a brick main street to add to the charm.
Aligning the brick street are over 50 shops with everything from antiques to upscale items. Additionally, there are fine restaurants and cozy cafes to satisfy your appetite.
Zionsville residents pride themselves in the historic homes from the 19th century that encompass the town. The tree-lined streets and peaceful neighborhoods are inviting.
Zionsville provides easy access to the hustle and bustle of metropolitan living found in Indianapolis; yet, provides the serene tranquil living of a small town.

One of my favorite things about Zionsville, Indiana
Some of my favorite things about Zionsville, Indiana are the walking trails and the attention that is given to being outside. If you start in Starkey Park in the woods and end up by the soccer fields or walk clear to the other end of town or through town if you want. Stop and do some shopping, get a bite to eat, and then walk it off to the other end of town. On Saturday morning at 6:30 you can find me meeting friends and "catching up" as we walk out to the Rail Trail Gardens and then walk back. I feel very safe and the trails are always busy. You also don’t have to cross any streets. Zionsville has made tunnels to go under the streets which makes it even safer. Sometimes after we walk we grab a sandwich at Big Dave’s Deli or Eagle Creek Coffee Shop. It just a great way to start your day!
