Characteristics of Local Indianapolis Home Buyers

Interested in the characteristics of local Indianapolis area Home Buyers? The latest information has become available from a survey of Home buyers and sellers commissioned by MIBOR. The survey was based on transactions between July 2008 and June 2009.

- First-time homebuyers comprised 44% of homebuyers

- Typical first-time homebuyer was 29 years old while the typical repeat buyers were 48 years old

- 2008 median household income of buyers was $66,000


  • Repeat buyers median income was $82,300
  • First-time homebuyers median income was $55,400

- 22% of recent homebuyers were single females

9% of recent homebuyers were single males

-
32% of recent homebuyers stated that the primary reason for purchasing was, “A desire to own a home”
