The seven day long Boone County 4H Fair
We have just finished the seven day long Boone County 4H Fair. County residents come out for a local social experience of friends and neighbors they haven’t had time to visit with lately. Conversations range from the national presidential campaign to the 4H Fair Queen campaign. Children, teens and young adults bring their workmanship of animals and crafts to compete against each other’s skills of doing it better. One teenager was entered in the photography competition. She wanted more photos of the local perspective so she and her mother contacted me to take interior photos of the historic Boone County Jail which I have listed for sale. She went into the barred cells and photographed the numerous drawings on the walls and ceilings. Most people feel it's very creepy to walk through the cell block halls never mind going into the cells. She got her photos for her 4H project but she and her mother received a new appreciation for living on the right side of the law.
We also had a booth at the fair which I enjoy passing out Carpenter Realtors bags and Homes Magazines. Everyone wants our opinion on the housing crisis right now, so you always have someone seeking your insight. I’ve visited with many current and past clients who wonder by the booth. I tried to do a photo opp with a county councilman in front of our booth but he wouldn’t go for it because he is also and agent at one of our competitors. Usually politicians jump at every photo opportunity.
