Progressive Farmer Magazine announces Boone County as being one of the safest counties in the country
Progressive Farmer Magazine recently announced Boone County as being one of the safest counties in the country. Boone County was named the fifth-safest in rural America based on crime statistics like property crime, burglary and vehicle theft.
Boone County’s Sheriff Ken Campbell was quoted saying: "I'd like to give credit to the tremendous job that the sheriff and deputies are doing, but it's the quality of people who live here. A lot of the credit goes to the farmers and families who live in the rural area and take care of their neighbors."
Our county covers 497-square miles and has more than 53,000 residents. Many people say Boone County’s individual communities have a small-town feel to them, with expensive farm equipment left out in the fields and residents leave their doors unlocked.
"There is a good quality, family-oriented, take-care-of-your-neighbor attitude here that not all communities are blessed with," Sheriff Ken Campbell Campbell also said.
Our lack of crime is evidenced weekly when the Zionsville Time Sentinel runs it’s short list of police reports and court results. Just one more reason I am pleased to call Boone County home!
